Imperial War Bonds by Sanity-X Imperial War Bonds by Sanity-X
He died shortly after his picture was taken. By a Commissar. Who wanted to test the new gold-plated bolt pistol he received from the Departmento Munitorum. As commendation for his record breaking number of summary executions in one sitting. 152.

-----

I just wanted to draw a badass Imperial Guardsmen really. Did okay, I reckon. Kinda fudged up the proportions, but I really just wanted to get it out of my system. ^_^

he acturlly was only ment to kill one, but he missed and hit a large pile of explosives that went off coursing a chain-reaction that went on for awhile, by the end of it 152 guard were dead and several wounded. one guard had his crotch destroyed, they replaced his genitals for a small las-weapon platform.

Too bad they die within an average of 15 minutes of entering the battlefield was it?

I mean do they count the times when the IG were killed in orbit or are they just dropped into the middle of a grinder the enemy oh so kindly left it there?

It still sucks to be them.

(Btw what are the ratings for the lasgun and their armor compared to real world counterparts? curious)

The average lifespan of a Guardsmen upon deployment is 15 hours actually. I think all eventualities are considered, even mishaps.

I think lasguns and flak armour have very similar properties to current day rifles and body armour. Consider that the lasgun hits as hard as a stubber, and flak jackets stops little more than the stuff the guardsmen fire at their foes~

Thats heresy!! XD

But Seriously, a lasgun is actualy more powerful than the Assualt guns of Today, and thier flak armor, is like a combo of a sheet of solid Adamantite packed into some kind of fabric thats stronger than kevlar, and then covered over with some kind of plastic like coating thats just as strong as steel.

Don't underestimate the Guard.

Hmm, hard to say though.

If you're familiar with the rules, the lasgun hits at Str 3 with no AP. A man with a knife or club hits just as hard, making it hard to believe it hits any harder than any notable rifle at this current age. It is said to have a 150 round magazine though, so that's pretty awesome. Also, lasers are mostly unaffected by wind and gravity, so accuracy is definitely a big plus.

Flak armour is as advertised, it's really meant to protect the wearer from shrapnel and light blows, not so much direct impacts. I would be willing to accept that they probably are pretty similar to the body armour we wear today. Now Carapace Armour, that's a different story all together! Those things could potentially stop explosive bolter rounds, given the chance~ ^_^

Well I disagree on you're assesment of the Lasgun in relation with guns of today, in lore they are said to be stronger then Auto-guns, which are pretty much the guns of today and can fry you're brain if you're hit in the eye.

They can even blow off an unprotected limb if aimed well enough.

and they can be re-charged by exposing it to sunlight, given enough time, its never specified on how long though, and in emergencies you can throw it next to an open fire, and the heat will charge it up right quick, altough you threaten to shorten its life-span, and angering the machine spirits and the commissars and tech-priests in the process.

of course in comparison with the other 40k weapons they are weak as hell, but dammit how I love the lasgun!

I myself want one. :D

I do agree with the Flak armor bit, but in lore its stated that Flak armor is made, with a mix of, Good steel, ceramics, and a kevlar-like substance, so overall the Imperial Guard flak-armor, is actually more effective than the Armor that Troops of Today use.

But to each his own you know? everyone differs on how effective a weapon or armor is.

Then we are pretty much even more fucked when the enemy starts using Mirrors over their armor. Gona reflect our las-gun fire.
